dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this study was to investigate vocabulary and grammar learning strategies used by good and poor language learners. The focal point of the study was to see similarities and differences between good and poor language learners in using vocabulary and grammarlearning strategies. Both questionnaire and interview used to collect data. Questionnaire was adopted from Oxford’s 1990 model. The questionnaire was administered to 86 good and 86 poor language learners at Arba Minch comprehensive, Chamo Secondary and Preparatory and Kola Shele high school. The frequency and t-test were used to analyze the data. The frequency was used to describe the information taken from the questionnaire. The t-test (with significant difference level P<0.05) was applied to check if there was a statistically significant difference between good and poor language learners in using each sub-category of vocabulary and grammar learning strategies. The finding shows that there was a wide difference between vocabulary and grammar learning strategies use except social strategy. Good language learners use more vocabulary and grammar learning strategies than poor language learners. en_US
