The purpose of this study was to investigate Teachers‟ andStudents „awareness and preferences
of online sources for English Language Learning/Teaching at Wachemo University. The
researcher selected the sample University because he had information about it and it is not far
for the researcher. In order to collect data, questionnaire and interview were used. Besides, EFL
teachers and students were participants of the study. Regarding selection of the sample,
purposive sampling was used to determine participant teachers and students. Accordingly, 6
teachers and 65 students were included as respondents of the study. With regard to research
design, the researcher used both descriptive survey and correlation designs. This method was
preferably used to collect information from various participants. Moreover, to analyze data, both
quantitative and qualitative approaches were employed. The study showed that both teachers
and students had negative attitude towards awareness and preference of online sources for
English Language Learning/Teaching. It was also found that there was an attitudinal and
preference link between teachers and students. Issues that were identified as barriers to use
online sources for ELL/ELT were commonly shared by both teachers and students. Based on
the above findings, some recommendations were forwarded. These were: there were teachers
and students who did not have awareness and preference for ELL/ELT. Therefore, students,
teachers, concerned bodies like EFL departments, education offices should prepare trainings to
provide EFL teachers and students with potential knowledge and usage of online sources for
ELL/ELT. |
