Abstract:
The main purpose of the study was to examine the effects of performance appraisal practice on
employees job satisfaction, in Bonga University. The study employed a cross-sectional study
design with a descriptive & explanatory research design and a mixed of research approaches
used to collect and analyze data generated from sampled respondents and , key informants.
Sample sizes of 229 employees were selected by stratified random sampling techniques. A
purposive sampling technique was used to select , six individual from BU Human resource
directors, officials, College management, directorates of finance and , team leaders for key
informant interviews. The primary data gathered through a close ended self-administered
questionnaire using five-point Likert scales from respondents and a key informant interview was
conducted with the six and personnel. Data analysis was done by descriptive statistics, and
inferential statistics,using SPSS 20 (Statistical Package for Social Science). Data analyzed by
using descriptive statistics which includes calculating the number and percentages, frequency
distribution tables . The result indicated that majority of sampled employees 76.4% have
dissatisfied with current performance appraisal system & their job in the university. The major
findings of the study of the regression analysis , level of communication among supervisors &
employees makes the strongest and the predominant factors that predict job satisfaction of
employees in Bonga university. In contrary, providing feedback systems do not show any
significant influence.. Therefore the researcher recommended that the ffedbacking system needs
to be modified and a fair result reward opportunities is need so as to increase job satisfaction of
employees gradually.
