dc.description.abstract In the construction industry, the contribution of consultants is crucial for the seamless execution of projects, as they manage numerous responsibilities throughout all project stages. Nevertheless, should consultants fall short in fulfilling their consulting obligations, various project tasks may experience delays. This research aimed to assess consultants' performance on public building projects, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods. The research incorporated a literature review, a questionnaire survey, interviews, and case studies. Data analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software. The findings revealed that consultants performed poorly in areas such as feasibility studies, option evaluation, gathering and appreciation of background information, problem-solving effectiveness, and quality of inventory plans. Several factors influenced consultant performance, including their ability to make timely decisions, work collaboratively, project nature and duration, as well as effective work and time planning. The lack of success in construction consultations can be attributed to the variability in client requirements, inadequate monitoring and evaluation systems, insufficient client dedication, ineffective contract management, limited training opportunities for consultants, and inadequate commitment from consultants. In addition, the researcher discovered that management characteristics, project factors, cost considerations, timelines, and customer satisfaction significantly impact consultant performance. To enhance the competence and success of the construction industry, consultants must aim to improve their performance by offering competitive and engaging consulting services. Addressing the challenges that influence performance is crucial for promoting the economic, environmental, and socio-political sustainability of construction consultancy en_US
