dc.description.abstract The construction industry plays a pivotal role in the economic development of Addis Ababa, with numerous public building projects contributing to the city's infrastructure and urban landscape. Efficient project scheduling is essential for the successful execution and compliance of construction projects. The choice of a scheduling method significantly influences project delays, a prevalent issue in the industry . In the context of the construction industry in Addis Ababa, the selection of an appropriate scheduling method is of paramount importance for mitigating delays and ensuring project success. This research focuses on evaluating the impact of critical chain project management and traditional scheduling techniques on the performance of public building projects in Addis Ababa. In response to the growing concern over project delays, this study aims to provide valuable insights into the practical implications of different scheduling methods. By examining active public building projects in Addis Ababa and engaging professionals as respondents, the research employs a comprehensive analysis that integrates both primary and secondary data sources. The methodologies utilized include questionnaires, interviews, and case studies, enabling a thorough assessment of the practical implications of these scheduling methods within selected projects. The findings of this study shed light on the significant benefits offered by critical chain project management, including improved project control and increased labor productivity, despite its underutilization. Additionally, the study identifies the critical path method as the most widely employed technique in Addis Ababa's public building projects. Furthermore, the research delves into the factors influencing the utilization of each scheduling technique in the construction industry, along with the associated implementation challenges. Moreover, the study examines the effects of these scheduling techniques on time, cost, and quality performance of construction projects. By emphasizing the importance of adopting modern scheduling techniques, such as critical chain project management, this research provides valuable insights and recommendations for industry professionals, contractors, and government entities. It offers a roadmap for improving project performance and achieving high-quality outcomes en_US
