The quality of service delivery of any organization depends on the presence of committed and
talented employees. Employees are main sources for organizations in meeting objectives in both
public and private sector organizations. Therefore,giving emphasis for employees become a big
issue in each particular organization. Organizational commitment is important attitudes in
assessing employees’ intention to quit and the overall contribution of the employee to the
organization. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between employee
performance and organizational commitments (affective, continuance, and normative
commitment) in the case of Arbaminch Mekaneyesus Wholistic Education and Training center
(AMYWETC). Total participants in the research were 90.Two separate instruments, namely
employee performance questions and organizational commitment questionnaire (OCQ), were
used to measure employee performance and employees’ organizational commitment respectively.
The researcher used descriptive Research approach and censes method. The findings of the study
revealed that , affective commitment (AC) was found to have a significant strong positive
relationship with employee perceived performance ,Normative commitment (NC) was found to
have also a significant strong positive relationship with employee perceived performance (EP)
and Continuance commitment (CC) was significantly positively correlated with employee
perceived performance at respectively in Arbaminch Mekaneyesus Wholistic Education and
Training center (AMYWETC).Some of the recommendations forwarded were Giving more
emphasis for employees need: even though focusing on result will bring short-term benefit. But it
doesn't have sustainability so that it's better to give more concern for the need of employees
could increase employees’ commitment, motivating its employees more. Low commitment levels
are a direct result of low morale. Innovative schemes to improve employee morale would help
increase commitment levels. A simple way of improving morale is to organize team building
exercises and encourage employees to be innovative and risk taker. |
