Abstract:
BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer is a leading cause of cancer related morbidity and mortality
among women in Ethiopia. Fortunately early detection of precancerous lesions and early
invasive cancers by various screening tools is the most effective method of preventing cervical
cancer. Furthermore, screening can be possible if the women have knowledge and positive
attitude towards cervical cancer screening. There is a serious lack of knowledge and attitude
among the concerned population regarding the importance of early detection of cervical cancer
in low income countries and there is no such a study in the study area.
