Abstract:
I nriverflowsimulationandforecastingwherethereisinsufficientdataand
minimumgaugingstations,hydrologicalmodelsareappropriateoperational
toolstosimulateandextendthetimeseries.
Theaimofthisstudywastointer-comparetheperformanceoffour
deterministic-Lumpedrainfall-runoffmodelsintheAbayaChamoRiver
Basin.InthisRiverBasinthemeteorological&hydrologicaldatafromBilate
andKulfocatchtnentswereconsideredfortheanalysis.
TheSimpleLinearModel(SLM),TheLinearPerturbationModel(LPM),the
SoilMoistureAccountingandRoutingModel(SMAR)andHBVmodelswere
usedforthestudy.
Theselectedmpdeisperformancewasevaluatedandcomparedforthetwo
catchments.Visualcomparisonofthesimulatedandobservedrunoff
response,Nashefficiencycriterion(R^),theindexofvolumetricfit(IVF)and
therelativeerrorofpeak(RE)criteriawereusedtocomparethemodels
outputs.Theoptimumparameterswhichgivebettersimulationresultwere
determinedforthecalibrationperiodsofeachmodel.Theverificationhave
beenmadefortheoptimumparametersobtainedduringthecalibration
period.
TheSMAR,HBVandLPMgavebettermodelperformanceinBilate
comparedtotheresultinKulfocatchment.OutofthefourmodelstheSMAR
modelresultwasbetterinboththecatchments.
Therefore,theSMARmodelcanbeusedtoestimatedischargeinthetwo
catchments.Furtherinvestigationhastobemadetogeneralizethe
applicabilityofthismodeltoallAbayaChamoRiverBasins.
