dc.description.abstract In Jinka, water supply distribution network is complex and difficult to operate and manage. the most common factors are the increase in population due to urbanization which causes for the increase in the demand of water consumption required for day to day activity, privation of knowing the exact location of the installed distribution system components data that is causes for poor management practices and un- programed water distribution of the town, non systematic design and over and under sized pipe installation. To achieve this researcher has different types data collected and used. The data's used includes, annual water production and consumption, distribution network components and its location, surveying data's, material type and diameter. The main objective of this research is the Geographical Information System (GIS) based WaterGEMS integrated modelling for Jinka town WSDN for improving the existing water distribution system. The town existing distribution zones are managed by default under three zones. By using GIS modifying distribution zone categorized in to six based on the ground elevation of the areas. The Arc GIS 10.3 in this study are needed, to create distribution network components of database were used to draw map of existing water pipelines, valves, storage tank and water sources and also to modify existing distribution zones, find short pipe layout root. WaterGEMS used for knowing the existing distribution system network hydraulic character and the location of existing distribution facilities analyzing the status of service presently in the area through provision of systematic distribution network zones and done pipe diameter optimization plan for selected zones.. The hydraulic parameter output results for selected zones showing 47 demand junctions above the range, 70 demand junctions were found below the recommended minimum pressure and among these 11 items were experienced negative pressures at feed these three zones. The pipe connection report was also indicated as 101 items were found with very low, below 0.3m/s and 10 items were found with very highest flow velocity. High pressures in the existing system caused by oversized pipe diameter and customers at besides low demands have to be identified and solution is established using minimize pipe diameterwith WaterGEMS Darwin designer of optimization. To solve the situation there is a need modification in distribution zone and pipe diameter will solve the current situation WDS. en_US
