dc.description.abstract The contribution of the classroom participation for successful and effective teaching learning process is not questionable point. However, Bele preparatory School that found at Oromia region,Arsi Zone, Bele Gesgar Wereda which contain different factors that hinder female students‘ active participation in group discussion in grade 11 Chemistry class. Therefore, this research would be done in order to address this problem or to identify effective learning methods that can enhance classroom participation. To do this the researcher had gone to use primary data to collect from 46 female students in grade 11 female students‘ and one Chemistry teacher and a principal of the school using available sampling method and the tools that would be used questionnaire, observation & interview to accomplish the objective of the study. The questionnaires would have illustrated 39 closed-ended & 3 opened-ended items to be respond by the target group of female students. The researcher again used interview methods. That was hold 13 closed & five open-ended interviews questions for teacher and 9 closed & 5 open-ended question for school principal. The methods data analysis through closed-ended questionnaires would analyze by simple descriptive statistical methods and compare means using one sample T test of software statistical package social science (SPSS). Whereas, the results of observation & interviews would report & analyze by integrating with the opened-ended questionnaires results qualitatively. The researcher after analyzing the quantitative and the qualitative data, the result concluded as: factors that affect active participation of female students in group discussion in classroom ; were in respect to students :difficulty of the concept of Chemistry subject, inactive participation in the group discussion, fear of female students freely talk in front of their classmate and teacher, the factor of teacher :inability to give clear instruction how apply tasks that facilitate group discussion, group activities and assignment, teacher forms a flexible group teacher ,organize group activities. And also the problem identified; group size, dominancy male student over en_US
