dc.description.abstract Avoidable maternal mortality remains a huge burden particularly in Sub- Saharan Africa. The involvement of husband during pregnancy and its complication helps an expectant mother to make timely decisions to avoid delays that brings about complications that could result in morbidity or mortality. Objective; - The aim of this study was to assess the magnitude of husband involvement in birth preparedness and complication readiness and associated factors in Kutcha District, Gamo Gofa zone, SNNPR, Ethiopia March 15 to April 2018. Methods: - Community based cross-sectional study was conducted among husbands with wife who gave birth within the last 12months, using simple random sampling technique. Data were collected by using Interviewer-administered questionnaire by trained TVT College students; Data were entered by using EPI INFO version 3.5.1 and exported to SPSS statistical software package Version 21 for data cleaning and analysis.Bivariate analysis was used primarily to check which variables had association with the dependent variable individually and All variables, found to be associated with the main outcome variables with 95% CI in the bi variate model i, e. P Value<0.25was candidate for the multivariable model analysis. Result: -Data were obtained from 421 husbands, yielding a response rate 100%. The magnitude of husband involvement in birth preparedness and complication redness was 30.2%.Husbands who attend secondary and higher level of school (AOR=3.1, CI (1.84_5.23), husbands whose wives had antenatal care follow up four and above (AOR=4.91, CI- (2.36_10.2), and husbands whose house located far from health care facility with distance greater than 5km (AOR=2.35, CI=1.403_3.96),were significantly more likely to involvement in birth preparedness and complication readiness than those who attend primary &below, below four ANC follow up and less than 5km. Conclusion and Recommendation: Involvement of husbands in birth preparedness and complication readiness was low in the study area, only one third of husbands were involved in BPCR. The level of participation in relation to selection of skilled care provider and identifying blood donor needs attention to achieve better husband involvement in birth preparedness and complication readiness en_US
