dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to investigate the factors that determine the adoption of Small scale irrigation practices in Bore district. Mixed research approach was employed for this study. The data for the study were collected via interview, focus group discussion, questionnaire and secondary data review. Results are based on data collected from a survey of 122 rural farm households selected randomly by using lottery system. Descriptive statistics and Binary logistic regression were used to examine the determinants of small-scale irrigation adoption. Among them 68.85% were non adopters and 31.15% were adopters of the small scale irrigation practices. The Binary logistic regression model analysis outcome indicate that among total of the eleven predictor variables, nine variables were found to be significant determinant of adoption of small-scale irrigation. The analysis revealed that training of household, planning of house hold, distance from households heads residence to the farm land, access to extension service, total livestock holding, availability of family labor force, access to credit and gender of the household were important determinants for adopting in small- scale irrigation schemes. The status of small scale irrigation is very low in terms of the distribution of farm size and adoption of small scale irrigation. The challenges were Lack of extension services, Awareness, lack of training center, planning problems of farmers, faller of infrastructure and Distance of farm land. Therefore, recommended that policy options and development Interventions set out to adopt small scale irrigation that leads to improve farm productivity and support irrigation technology in rural Ethiopia en_US
