dc.description.abstract The building construction projects faces several challenges related to labor productivity. The aim of this study is to improve labor productivity by developing productivity and work measurement guide lines for building construction projects of SNNPR Ethiopia. The method used to collect the data was questionary and observation. The analysis method used in this study incorporated SPSS and relative importance index (RII). The results of analysis of 61 factors negatively affecting labor productivity in building construction projects considered, the top10 factors: Inability of construction management, Shortage of supply of construction materials, Lack of experience and skill of the labor, Labor payment delay, Working at a higher height, Lack of required construction equipment on site, Awkward posture due to bending during work execution, Ineffective sub-contractor management, Repetitive motion for labor manual works and Poor co ordination among labors. The findings of this study recommend that in order to improve labor productivity in the construction projects, contractors should consider the top 10 factors negatively affecting labor productivity in building construction projects, measure labor productivity continuously and evaluate the level of productivity of their workers. It also requires to conduct construction work-study to determine productivity benchmark for contractors to control labor productivity en_US
