dc.description.abstract Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been an effective radiological modality in clinical approaches by generating cross-sectional images without ionization radiation. Despite the fact that MRI is thought to be a biologically safe modality, its environment has the potential to cause anxiety. These results termination of procedures, prolonged wait times, and increased operational costs which alters the work flow & diagnostic outcome. In Ethiopia, where access to MRI machines is limited, assessing &identifying associated factors of MRI related anxiety is crucial for optimizing the use of available diagnostic tools & improving patient outcomes. Objective: - To assess the magnitude of anxiety and associated factors related to MRI examination among patients in public Hospitals of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 2024. Methods: An institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted using structured interviewer-administered questioner from October 1th to October 30th, 2024. Magnetic Resonance Imaging anxiety questionnaire was used to assess anxiety. Data were collected using kobo tool box and analyzed with the SPSS26.0. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were done. The strength of the association was declared by using an adjusted odds ratio (AOR) with a 95%, & a statistical significance of P < 0.05. Results: The magnitude of MRI anxiety in this study was (55.4%)[95%CI: 50%-61%]. Receiving prior information (AOR = 2, 95% CI (1.1-3.6),Have no previous experience [AOR=3.0, 95%CI: 1.7-5.3], scan type (head first) [AOR=2.5, 95%CI=(1.4-4.2],patients satisfaction (unsatisfied patients)[AOR=3,95%CI=(1.8-5.3], gender (being female) [(AOR=4.5, 95%CI= 4.5(2.6-7.8)] and rural residential [AOR 3, 95%CI= (1.7-4.9],were significantly associated with anxiety associated with MRI examination. Conclusion & recommendation: The magnitude of anxiety related to MRI examination is high in this study. To alleviate patients anxiety during MRI examination providing information before the procedure is crucial. Specially, for female patients, those from rural area, individuals undergoing head-first scans and first-time MRI patients. en_US
