dc.description.abstract The purpose of the study was to assessment of factors affecting implementation of continuous assessment at Selamber Secondary School, Gamo Zone, Ethiopia. In this study, the researchers were employed descriptive survey research design with both qualitative and quantitative approaches as method for the analysis of data. In order to gather quantitative data a total of 270 respondents were selected by using probable and non-probable sampling technique. In addition, qualitative data were collected by using in-depth interview of key informant’s form school Administrations. The qualitative data were analyzed and interpreted using content analysis and the quantitative data were presented and analyzed using simple descriptive statistical tools such as percentage and frequency, Findings show that the main factors affecting implementations of continuous assessment such as large class size, work load of teachers, shortage of time, inadequacy of school infrastructure, and weak follow up, weak support and feedback system can be taken as the main obstacle for the implementation of continuous assessment in the selected study area. Based on these findings, in the study areas the implementation of the continuous assessment was very poor due to the above listed factors. To sum up, the study was recommended that give immediate feedback on the learners CA implementation, fulfillment on school infrastructure, school-based training, continuous follow up, take the updated instructional documents, reduced of teacher’s workloads were used to control learners behavioral related issues and suggested as potential solutions to the proper implementation of continuous assessment. en_US
