dc.description.abstract The study was aimed at Assessing the Role of Gome culture in Maintaining Social Solidarity and Natural Resource Conservation in the case of Chencha Zuria Woreda of Gamo Zone in SNNPRS of Ethiopia, and intended to fill the current knowledge gap by assessing broad role of Gome culture in, maintaining social solidarity, natural resource management and its challenges. Based on research questions to achieve basic objectives of the research. It had used Primary and secondary data sources. Purposive sampling techniques were used two on Kebeles from Chencha zuria Woreda. From each kebeles data sources were selected within 25-70 age range. The data was collected through key informant interviews (KIIs) and Focus group discussions (FGDs). Thematic data analysis was used to describe the collected data. To this end, the researcher used qualitative research approach. The findings revealed that the Gome culture typically building consensus, peacemaking on a sense of harmony, the study found that Gome culture positively related to social solidarity and natural resource conservation. The study also indicated that economic development achieved by Prioritization for social capital without destruction of socio-cultural values and based initiatives on real social context, however nowadays Gome culture have faced many challenges, and need strong attention to resisted the destruction and few changes. The research recommends came up with the evidence of culture, moral, social and ethical values possessed by traditional institutions of peoples have often been determining factors for peacemaking and sustainable development. en_US
