Abstract:
This study is about enhancing product output and process efficiency through time and
method study in the apparel industry. The study focuses on the reduction of nonproductive time involved in process time and increase product output. Among the
various tools and techniques used for improvements in production performance and
analysis of processes, time study and method (motion) study is used to control and
improve the process efficiency and production outputs in the sewing section of the
garment industry. Improvement in process time was done using this effective tool.
Results show 6.9% improvement in process time and 7.15% output increment gain in
K500 – POLO T-shirt. Likewise, 11.36% enhancement in process time and 10.38%
rise in output of ST450 – CN T-shirt in hourly production. Hence, the reduction of
demand gap by 5 and 11 pieces in hourly production of K500 – POLO and ST450 –
CN styles respectively. 1.22 minutes and 1.1muiniutes were reduced from the actual
operating times of K500 – POLO and ST450 – CN T-shirt production respectively.
Efficiency was improved by 2.87% an
