dc.description.abstract Safety of the road has measured by road safety indicators. Regretfully, a lot of people are unaware of how serious the issue is. Most of the time, lack of precise measurements that can easily and effectively convey the problem's size to them limits their ability to comprehend. Therefore, road safety measurement tool has required, the study was developed single and simply understandable tool which known as road safety index (RSI). This study constructed RSI using several road safety indicators which are classify in to three macro indicators; human, vehicle and road and its infrastructural factors. The data was conducted with interviews for drivers, inspection road factors and documented data from Ariba Minch traffic police and road and transport office and also published and unpublished materials. In order to the study involved a comprehensive process data preparation, weighting and aggregation using analytic hieratic process method by develop pairwise matrix for creating weightage of the indicators and also check the consistence of the values; additionally, data normality examined in SPSS .The study analysis the value of created tools between 0.6 and 0.8 showed the city road in safe condition which means the value interpreted in very good level of services. The RSI also aids in creating an extensive catalog of macro-level metrics for various uses in road safety, providing a comprehensive overview of road safety performance. Overall, the research output was a practical and comprehensive tool for measuring road safety performance, increasing awareness of road safety issues, and providing a framework for targeted improvements in road safety in Arba Minch City, the study was conclude road safety factors possible for using to develop road safety index for preset the status of the road in single value en_US
