dc.description.abstract Well-designed pedestrian zones represent both the allure of urban centers and the quality of city life, yet the city's rapid rise in construction and car use may cause transportation related problems including congestion, collisions, pollution, noise, etc. Small and underdeveloped Right Of Ways (ROWs), insufficient or inadequate street coverage and density, and poor accessibility, mobility, and connection were observed in urban settlements in Ethiopia. The crowdedness and unattractive space use in the cities of streets lead to difficulties in pedestrian space use and the city's image. This study aims to evaluate the pedestrian street environment spatial condition based on observed quality, and objectively, address urban street issues of the pedestrian street in the CBD zone environment and provide a design solution in the context of urban success and enhance the overall experience of the pedestrian way. The qualities of the pedestrian environment are influenced by the physical features of the urban environment such as imageability, complexity, transparency, human scale, and enclosure. The study found these physical characteristics of pedestrian street environments and their edges influence the walking environment both directly and indirectly through perception and physical experience en_US
