Abstract:
This study was aimed to investigate the school principal leadership style in public secondary school in
Gerese District at Gam ozone.Study was employed triangulation research designtoexamine leadership
styles practiced inall seven public secondary schools in the district. The mixed research method was
employed mainly by incorporating bothquantitative and qualitative research methods were involved to
analyzed data. To avoid bias simple random and purposive sampling techniques were employed to
selectrespondents from large sample size and small sample size respectively,population of the study was
included12 principals’ in public secondary schools’,164 secondary school teachers,and 2 supervisors,.
The total sample sizes selected for the present study were 178 participants.The collected data were
analyzed by SPSS software version 22 in which descriptive statics was computed The results of the
study revealed that majority school principals’ qualifications were found below the required standard
set for the level under the study. Moreover, the findings revealed that most school principals commonly
used autocratic leadership style Also the findings of the study indicated that secondary school principals
fairly used democratic leadership style to influence over all activities in the school The study concluded
that weak relationship between principals with staff members The point of the recommendation is
providing opportunities of training for unqualified school principals to build their professional skills
and solve the challenges that hindered proper implementation of school leadership practice. Finally, it
was recommended that school principals advise to develop and practice democratic leadership style
