Abstract:
ith the objective to improve health care and reduce maternal and fetal morbidity
and death, World Health Organization (WHO) recommends using the partograph to follow labor
and delivery. The partograph is a graphic representation of labor and is an excellent visual
resource to analyze cervix, uterine contractions and descent of the fetal presenting part in relation
to time. However, poor knowledge and utilization of partograph was found in health institutions
of many African Countries including Ethiopia; which reflect poor monitoring of mothers in labor
and poor pregnancy outcome.
