Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate factors that affect the teaching learning process in physical education in selected secondary and preparatory schools of Kamba woreda Gamo zone. Descriptive survey was employed. 200 students were selected through simple random techniques. 6 physical education teachers and 3 schools principal were participated. Instruments were questionnaire, interview, and focus group discussion. Data were analyzed through Tables, SPSS, Percentage, mean, standard deviation and Frequency. Major findings include the majority of students have less interest to participate physical education class, lack of support ;lack of equipment and facility ; Economic factors ; attitude towards physical education; attitude of school community; class size; perception toward physical education; parent support and motivation were major factors that hinder the teaching learning process of physical education .The researcher recommended that develop the awareness of the society, doing interactively with the stack holders, using appropriate teaching methodology, providing the required facilitates, society must encourage students to engage in physical education class can help improvement of participation of students and in order to motivate students in physical education.
Therefore, it is recommended that depending on the result, the concerned bodies such as teachers, school directors and regional and zone educational bureau have to encourage students to be participants in class and practical class freely to fulfill school facilities, by give equal opportunity like other subject and by motive, support, appreciation and encouraging them.
