Introduction: Tuberculosis and Human immunodeficiency virus co-infections are the
leading cause of death in children globally, which accounts one-third of death among human
immunodeficiency virus positive children. However, there are limited studies that assess the
incidence and predictors of mortality among tuberculosis and human immunodeficiency
virus co-infected children in Ethiopia. Objective: This study was amid to determine the
incidence and predictors of mortality among children co-infected with tuberculosis and
human immunodeficiency virus in seven , Public Hospitals, Southern Ethiopia from January
01,2009 to December 31, 2018.
Methods: Institution based retrospective study was conducted seven Public hospitals with a
total of 286 randomly selected records of ART enrolled children from January 01,2009 to
December 31, 2018. Data were entered into Epidata version 4.2 and exported to STATA
version 14 for analysis. Bivariate and multivariable Cox proportional hazards model was
fitted to identify the predictors of mortality. Variables which had a p-value<0.05 at |
