dc.description.abstract This study was aimed to investigating Challenges on implementation of continuous assessment in teaching physical education classes in preparatory and general secondary schools of Enemay Woreda. The researcher was employed descriptive survey research design with qualitative and quantitative approach. Physical education teachers, school principals and students were participated for the study. The schools were selected purposively while participants were selected using simple random sampling technique. The sample size was determined by Yamane (1967) formula. To gather data for this study, the researcher was used questionnaire, interview and observation. Data obtained through questionnaire from student respondents were analysed quantitatively using frequency and percentage that helps to show the general picture of the data. The major findings of this study were indicated that teachers and students’ perception to continuous assessment was negative: Different assessment techniques were not used to assess students’ achievement. The study also found that large class sizes, inadequacy of school infrastructure, lack of manuals, weak follow up support and feedback, system on the implementation of continuous assessment, lack of material and playground in the schools and insufficient allotted period for the subject were the major challenges of continuous assessment. From the findings the researcher was concluded that the implementation of continuous assessment was not in the desired standard due to various factors .finally constructive recommendations forwarded. en_US
