dc.description.abstract According to Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) Ethiopia become the first country of internal displacement in 2018 where more than 2.9 million people were displaced surpassing both Syria and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Since April 2018, continued insecurity and localized conflict between communities in Ethiopia‟s Gedeo Zone and West Gujji Zone have led to displacement of nearly 970,000 people. The study investigated the role of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission in the protection and promotion of human rights of IDPs in the Gujji-Gedeo. More specifically, the study explored the extent of human rights violations of IDPs in Gujji-Gedeo; the role of EHRC in investigating the human right violation of IDPs and reporting it to the concerned body; the contribution of EHRC in bringing IDPs to their normal life and finally its operational and structural challenges which hindered it from achieving it en_US
