dc.description.abstract Successful construction project management obtained if causes of factors that affect construction project management identified and corrective action taken. The objective of the research is to identify factors affecting construction project management of 40/60 saving houses in Addis Ababa. Overall, 75 respondents from contractors participated in the survey and identified most significant factors affecting construction project management from a list of 45 common causes based on the relative importance index (RII). The most significant factors construction project management of 40/60 saving houses were. The most significant factors affecting construction project management of 40/60 saving houses in Addis Ababa were: Late material supply from client, Delayed payments to contractors, Delay in purchasing, Inexperienced personnel , Delayed payments to suppliers and subcontractors, Improper planning, equipment unavailability, Problem of water supply, Late design review and approval, Financial difficulties faced by the contractor, Problem of electric supply, Low decision making abilities. The results of the case studies showed that late material supply mainly caused by the client due to financial shortage, time taking material procurement process, unfair distribution of material, shortage of transport facilities, scarcity of material in the market, frequent power interruption, late maintenance and adverse weather condition. Furthermore, the impacts of the major causes of factors affecting construction project management were time overrun and cost overrun to the client and the contractors. From the findings it concluded that should cooperation between stakeholders, timely supply of construction materials, minimizing delay of payment to contractors and supervision of works executed should be practiced in order to improve project performance en_US
