dc.description.abstract The objective of the paper is to investigate the relation between the planned curriculum and implemented curriculums for grade nine physics subject based on the use of available instructional time. It is based on the curriculum materials of grade nine physics. In this study we used both qualitative and quantitative methods (approaches) for the collection of data from the data sources of the study. Simple random sampling is used for this study. For the selection of students we used one of the types of simple random sampling method. The frequency distribution method is used to analyze the quantitative data and the analysis of the data obtained by qualitative method (non-numeric data) is made by using non-statistical method. The findings regarding the mismatch between the planned and implemented curriculum are: the curriculum was not fully implemented in terms of the planned aims/objectives, the curriculum was almost implemented in terms of coverage, the curriculum was almost implemented in terms of practical activity/Laboratory manuals (laboratory equipment’s, the curriculum was not fully implemented in terms of curriculum materials. In addition, the major problems that make a gap between the planned and implemented curriculum are: frequently missed classes, difficulty level of the contents of the text, language difficulties of students to understand the contents and lack of interest of students towards the subject physics. Finally we suggested implications and recommendations of the study. en_US
