Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of selected aerobic exercise on lipid profile of
obese individuals. Pre-post randomization design was used for this study. Twenty obese adults
with age range between 30-40 years were selected through purposive sampling method for the
study and the exercise program (3 days per week, 40 minutes for the first month, 50 mints for the
second month, 60 min for the third month). The exercise program selected for the study were rope
jumping, tread mill running and brisk walking. BMI, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density
lipoprotein cholesterol, high density lipoprotein cholesterol, and parameters were selected and
tested. The data was analyzed using statistical package for social science (SPSS) version 23. The
data was initially subjected to descriptive statistic (mean and standard deviation) then a further
analysis was computed using independent t-test with P value < 0.05 to analyze the difference
between pretest and post test results of obese adults. The result of the current study after 12 week
continues training TC, LDL and TG test mean value for experimental group was decreased by -35.4 mg/DL, -30.4 mg/DL, -34 mg/DL respectively and HDL was increased by 9.8 mg/DL.
Correspondingly, the comparisons of mean result for control group on HDL was decreased by -o.9 mg/DL but, mean score on TC, LDL and TG shown increase by 7.7 mg/DL, 23.2 mg/DL and
17.3 mg/DL respectively. The result of the study indicated that there was significant difference
between pretest and posttest of each parameter. Lipid profile improvement was significantly
observed on experimental group due to 12 weeks aerobic exercise training program. Therefore,
aerobics exercise intervention with specified period and intensity is recommendable to improve
the lipid profile of obesity adults.
