Abstract:
Delay in a construction is one of the major influences on overall performance and efficiency of the
construction projects. Many projects experience delay and ended up with delay in initial contract
completion time, which may adversely affect the project and leads to claim & dispute. In Ethiopia,
the number of University expansion construction projects are increasing from time to time.
However, it becomes difficult to complete projects in the cost and time as the parties agreed.
Taking into account the scarce financial resources of the country and sensitivity towards time,
delay is one of the major problems in Ethiopian construction industry.
This project work paper presents a literature review of building construction project from Ethiopian
perspective and case study that explains the causes, effects and remedial measures of delay in Wolaita Sodo
University construction projects.
